V-RAPTOR [X] - Z to PL Adapter and Brackets Setup Guide

The RED Z to PL Adapter and RED Z to PL Adapter w/ Electronic ND Filter allow for mounting and communication with PL Mount lenses on KOMODO-X Z Mount and V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount bodies.

The RED Z to PL Adapter and RED Z to PL Adapter w/ Electronic ND Filter include PL Mount Support Brackets for KOMODO-X Z Mount and V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount bodies. These brackets are designed to provide additional rigidity and support to the adapter when mounting heavy or long lenses to your camera.

NOTE: To use the KOMODO Support brackets on KOMODO-X, you must first install the SIDE RIBS.

NOTE: The RED Z to PL Adapter and RED Z to PL Adapter w/ Electronic ND Filter are not compatible with DSMC, DSMC2, RANGER or V-RAPTOR XL cameras.

NOTE: When attaching or removing the RED Z to PL Adapter w/ Electronic ND Filter on KOMODO-X with the DSMC3™ RED® Touch 7.0” LCD attached, you will need to remove the filter from the adapter to be able to attach or remove the adapter.

Attaching the RED Z TO PL ADAPTER to V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount

To attach the RED Z to PL Adapter or RED Z to PL Adapter w/ Electronic ND Filter to V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount:

1. Unlock the locking ring by rotating it to the fully counterclockwise position.

2. Press and hold the lens release button on the camera. While holding the lens release button, turn the camera lens mount cap clockwise until it stops, and remove it from the camera.

3. Remove the rear cap from the RED Z to PL Adapter.

4. Align the dot on the RED Z to PL Adapter with the dot on the camera lens mount and insert the Z Mount end of the adapter in the camera lens mount opening.

5. Turn the adapter counterclockwise until it clicks in place. If the locking ring rotates while attaching the adapter make sure that you hold the locking ring tab in place while rotating the adapter.

6. Gently tighten the locking ring. Do not over-tighten the locking ring.

7. Store the camera lens mount cap and the rear adapter cap together in a dust free location.

Attaching the V-RAPTOR Support Brackets to V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount

To attach the V-RAPTOR Support Brackets to the RED Z to PL Adapter or RED Z to PL Adapter w/ Electronic ND Filter on V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount:

1. Attach the RED Z to PL Adapter following the steps in ‘Attaching the RED Z TO PL ADAPTER to V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount’. Be sure to gently tighten the lock ring before installing the Support Brackets.

2. Take one of the V-RAPTOR Support Brackets and position it on the top of the RED Z to PL Adapter ensuring the ¼-20 captive screws are pointing towards the V-RAPTOR’s ¼-20 threads.

3. Use a T20 driver to loosely attach the M4 screws of the Support Bracket to the Z to PL Mount. Do not fully tighten yet.

4. Use a 3/16" hex driver to attach the 1/4-20 screws into the V-RAPTOR and fully tighten.

5. Return to the M4 screws from Step 3 and fully tighten.

6. Turn the camera upside-down and gently lay it on a work surface that will not damage the top of the camera.  Repeat steps 2-5 to install the second Support on the underside of the Adapter.

Notes:

• Ensure both Support brackets are securely attached to ensure correct support of the RED Z to PL Adapter.
• If any of the M4 screws are not aligning with the mount, do not force the screws into place, check the mount is correctly installed.
• Do not to over-tighten the screws while attaching the support brackets to the camera or RED Z to PL Adapter.
