Z Mount Conversions for V-RAPTOR [X] and KOMODO-X

With the announcement of V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount and KOMODO-X Z Mount, RED is offering conversion options for current V-RAPTOR [X] RF and KOMODO-X RF owners wanting to switch to Z Mount.

What is included with the Conversion?

The Z Mount conversion for V-RAPTOR [X] and KOMODO-X is more than just a lens mount; it includes supplemental board upgrades and modifications allowing the user to take full advantage of the native Z Mount, such as smooth iris control, customizable lens response, and adjustable auto focus speeds. Given the shallow flange depth, the Z mount is compatible with even more lens systems using third-party adapters.

- Z Mount is not available for V-RAPTOR XL

ENROLLMENT:

To enroll in the conversion, sign up directly through RED.com >My Account > Registered Products:

  • PREFERRED START DATE: Please select your preferred service window. Please schedule a time when you'll be able to send your camera for at least 7-10 business days (barring any delays). RED Support will contact you 1 week prior to the start of your service window to provide a Service Order Number and Shipping Instructions. DO NOT SHIP your camera until you've received a Service Order Number (SOR) and Shipping Instructions from RED Support.
  • RETURN ADDRESS: Please select the address you'll be shipping your camera from. Please notify RED Support during the service process if you'd like to have your completed camera shipped to a different address.

CONFIRMATION:

Upon successful enrollment, you will receive the below message:

Your Z Mount Conversion Start Date will be displayed on your Registered Product:

CANCELLATION:

You can cancel your reservation or reschedule any time by selecting CANCEL RESERVATION.

What to Expect

After enrolling in the Z Mount Conversion, RED will contact you approximately 1 week before the start of your preferred service window.

  • If your camera is not received at RED within 7 days of allocation, your order will be canceled.
  • Please ensure you've planned appropriately to allow for at least 7-10 business days to complete the conversion (not including transit time to and from RED HQ)
  • You are responsible for shipping your camera to RED HQ. 
  • DO NOT SHIP your camera until you've received a Service Order Number (SOR) and Shipping Instructions from RED Support.
  • Your existing camera body will be converted to Z Mount through replacement of required parts and enclosures to bring your camera up to the latest functionality
  • The camera's Hours of Operation will remain the same
  • Payment is required prior to shipping the completed camera back to you
  • If non-warranty repairs are required at the time of the service, RED Support will provide a Service Quote prior to performance of repairs.
  • Once the conversion is completed, it cannot be reversed.

Sales Tax

If you take delivery of your Z Mount Converted camera in the US, sales tax is applicable in certain states. You will be charged sales tax on the full retail price of the Conversion.

If you take delivery of your Z Mount Converted camera in the European Union, Value Added Tax (VAT) may be assessed.

Shipping Costs

You are responsible for shipping your camera to RED HQ in Foothill Ranch, CA.
RED recommends that you use a traceable and insurable carrier when shipping to RED.
RED will cover the return shipping back to you after the service is completed. 

Turnaround Time

The estimated turnaround time is 7 to 10 business days. 

NOTE: The turnaround time does not include transit to and from RED Headquarters.
NOTE: If additional repairs are required, turnaround will be extended.
