RED no longer develops software for or manufactures the RED ROCKET-X, RED ROCKET, and RED ROCKET Breakout Box. RED also no longer offers out-of-warranty replacements for these items. For a full list of discontinued products, go to Discontinued Products.
GPUs have now outpaced graphics acceleration cards in the technology for processing REDCODE files. RED recommends using an NVIDIA GPU to support your post production needs.
RED ROCKET
RED is no longer updating the RED ROCKET driver to be compatible with new operating systems. If you currently have a RED ROCKET installed in your system, future operating system updates may make your RED ROCKET unusable.
RED ROCKET-X
The following operating systems support RED ROCKET-X:
- Mac OS X 10.7
- Windows Vista
- Linux (Red Hat)
Later versions may also support the RED ROCKET-X, but have not been tested.
Some newer hardware may not support the RED ROCKET-X.
If installing the RED ROCKET-X driver and firmware on newer operating systems, you may get an error saying that the RED ROCKET-X card is not detected. If you encounter this error, you may need to update the operating system security settings to authorize the RED ROCKET-X to run on your system. Follow the procedure based on your system:
If authoring the RED ROCKET-X card does not enable the card, submit a support ticket requesting a beta driver.
Authorize RED ROCKET-X on a Mac
- Go to the Apple menu > About this Mac > System Report > Hardware > Thunderbolt and confirm that the chassis displays. If the chassis does not display in the report, check the connection between the chassis and the system. If the chassis does display, proceed to the next step.
- Go to the Apple menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General.
- The following message displays: “System software from developer RED Digital Cinema was blocked from loading.” Click Allow.
Authorize RED ROCKET-X on a Windows-Based System
