This section provides an overview of how to set up Gyroscope and Accelerometer settings in-camera and extract Gyroscope and Accelerometer meta from recorded footage. Gyroscope and Accelerometer data is often used for CGI, aerial cinematography, VR, and 3D applications.
To ensure that the camera records accurate data, calibrate the Gyroscope and Accelerometer in-camera: Menu > Settings > Maintenance > Calibrate > Gyro/Acc.
If you want to view Gyroscope and Accelerometer data on the monitor while recording, add the Motion: Gyro Data (GYRO) item to the overlay.
Gyroscope and Accelerometer data is saved as frame-by-frame metadata in .R3D files, so it does not display in post production software (including REDCINE-X PRO). You can extract the data using REDLINE, which is built into REDCINE-X PRO (and is a standalone program for Linux). An example REDLINE command for extracting the Gyroscope and Accelerometer data is:
REDline --i /Users/myuser/sample.R3D --printMeta 5
If the Gyroscope and Accelerometer calibration fails, or if the data is not saved in the .R3D file, save a log file and submit a Support ticket.
