REDRAY Player Support Overview
RED no longer manufactures, sells, repairs, provides updates for, or provides authorization (registration) for REDRAY Players.
What does “authorize a REDRAY Player” mean?
Authorizing a REDRAY Player means registering the device to your RED account. Authorizing a REDRAY Player activates the factory warranty and gives you access to the RRencode Plugin licenses that came with the device.
What happens when I can’t authorize a REDRAY Player?
If you already have a REDRAY Player that is authorized (registered to your RED account), you can continue to use the device without any issues.
If you reset the REDRAY Player to the factory defaults, then you will be unable to re-authorize the device. If you previously authorized the REDRAY Player, then you will be able to continue to use the RRencode Plugin licenses. However, if you never authorized the REDRAY Player, then you will not get access to RRencode Plugin licenses. This means that you will not be able to encode content for the REDRAY Player.
What if I need to re-install an existing RRencode Plugin license?
You will no longer be able to re-install RRencode Plugin licenses, even if your REDRAY Player is authorized. This means that you will not be able to encode content for the REDRAY Player.
Should I reset the REDRAY Player to the factory defaults?
NO, do not use the Reset to Factory Defaults function. Resetting the system removes any authorization, and you will not be able to re-authorize the device. RED cannot re-authorize the device in any way.
Can I upgrade the REDRAY Player system?
RED no longer provides system upgrades for the REDRAY Player. If you attempt to upgrade the system, the device will show a network error.
Can I still contact RED Support about the REDRAY Player?
Yes, you can still submit Support requests about the REDRAY Player. However, RED Support cannot provide system updates, resolve any authorization issues, or repair the device.
How can I learn more about how to use a REDRAY?
