Error Messages

The following error messages display:

 

Black Shading - Calibration Failed - Not Quite Sure What You Should Do

Symptom

If the CF card or REDMAG installed in the camera is full or is removed during the Black Shading Calibration, the following error displays: Calibration Failed. Not quite sure what you should do. 

Potential Resolution

Check the recording media/connections and reattempt Black Shading. If necessary, save media files to computer, reformat CF card or REDMAG, and perform the Black Shading Calibration again.

Black Shading - Calibration Failed – Exit Magnify Mode and Try Again.

Symptom

The following error displays: Black Shading - Calibration Failed - Exit Magnify Mode and Try Again.

Potential Resolution

Select OK and exit Magnify mode. Perform the Black Shading Calibration again.

Black Shading – Unable to Calibrate.

Symptom

The following error displays: Black Shading - Unable to Calibrate.

Potential Resolution

Connect a formatted CF card or REDMAG to the camera and perform the Black Shading Calibration again. 

 

VALID SETTINGS (Invalid Settings)

Symptom

The following error displays: VALID SETTINGS (Invalid Settings).

Potential Resolution

Establish the maximum Project settings for the media you are using and change the settings accordingly.

SATA_TRANS_FAULT

Symptom

The following error displays: SATA_TRANS_FAULT

Explanation

The camera detects a communications fault between the camera and drives (RED-RAM or RED-DRIVE). The fault may or may not be severe enough to cause corruptions on the clips, so RED highly recommends that you review the R3D files.

Potential Resolution

Submit a Technical Support request.

 

Record Error: NO_DIGMAG

Symptom

The following error displays: Record Error: NO_DIGMAG.

Potential Resolutions

  • Reattempt to mount.
  • Check the connection and CF/REDMAG pins in Side Module.
  • Perform a power cycle.
  • Try a different media.

 

WARNING! Media Removed Prior Unmount Data Integrity Risk

Symptom

The following error displays: WARNING! Media Removed Prior Unmount Data Integrity Risk.

Potential Resolution

Press UNDO+EXIT, or the menu option System > Media > Unmount

The CF Card Has Not Been Speed Verified For Use on This Camera. Only 2k Resolution Recordings are Possible. There is an Unquantifiable Risk of Drop Frames.

Symptom

The following error displays: The CF Card Has Not Been Speed Verified For Use on This Camera. Only 2k Resolution Recordings are Possible. There is an Unquantifiable Risk of Drop Frames.

Explanation

This may occur if you are using Non-RED CF cards and/or you have a damaged CF card or REDMAG.

Potential Resolution

Use a different CF card or REDMAG.

 

Record Error: NO_MEDIA_PATH

Symptom

The following error displays: Record Error: NO_MEDIA_PATH.

Potential Resolution

Format the media.

 

Incompatible Project / Record Error: INCOMPATIBLE_DIGMAG

Symptom

The following error displays: Incompatible Project / Record Error: INCOMPATIBLE_DIGMAG.

Explanation

When this error is present, the camera does not record and may be caused by one of the following:

  • The camera settings were changed while the media was removed and/or disconnected.
  • The media was formatted on a different camera with different settings.

Potential Resolution

  • Connect the CF card, REDMAG, or RED-DRIVE /RED-RAM to a computer.
  • Save the files from the media to the computer.
  • Erase the media using the computer or format the media in-camera.
  • Ensure that you establish the original time base for the media’s project or reformat media.

 

The Magazine Formatting Failed

Symptom

One of the following errors display:

  • The Magazine Formatting Failed – The Active Drive (Internal) is Unmounted. -Please Re-connect to Format.
  • The Magazine Formatting Failed - The magazine is not fast enough to support the current project. Please change the project settings before formatting this media.

Potential Resolutions

  • Select OK and try again. If the error continues, unmount media, install again, and repeat the format procedure.
  • Ensure that you have the valid Project settings for that particular piece of media. For more information, go to the RED ONE Operation Guide.

 

Record Error: OUT OF SPACE

Symptom

The following error displays: Record Error: OUT OF SPACE.

Potential Resolution

The media is full. Download the files and reformat the card, or insert a different formatted media.

 

Camera Shuts Down Upon Movement

Symptom

The camera shuts down when you move the camera.

Potential Resolution

Disengage and reengage the RED BRICK to the battery plate.

 

Image Looks Soft

Symptom

The image looks soft.

Potential Resolution

Readjust the back focus and ensure that the lens is properly collimated. For more information, go to the RED ONE Operation Guide.

 

Menus Display Properly on LCD or EVF but not on External Monitors

Symptom

After you connect the camera to an external monitor, the menu does not completely display on the external monitor.

Potential Resolutions

Go to System Menu Controls > Monitor and try the following:

  • Select Preview and change the settings between Menus [DVI] or Video [720p].
  • Select PVW Refresh (Formerly HD-SDI) and change setting between 50.00 HZ or 59.94 HZ.

NOTE: If both a RED EVF and RED LCD are present, the HD-SDI and HDMI outputs are forced to 1280 x 720 (with Surround View) irrespective of the Preview Output parameter setting. Menus or frame guides will not appear.
